Minutes of the Board of Director’s Meeting, Unit 215, South Alabama Bridge Assn.

CALL TO ORDER
President Phyllis Haydel called the meeting to order at 1:50 p.m.  Present were Phyllis 
Haydel, Martha Steele, Betty Strickland, Sue Hanlein, Jane Mahoney, and Barbara 
Slaughter.  Absent were Margaret Miller, Rhoda Herzog, and Ed Stephens.  A motion 
was made by Jane, seconded by Martha, to dispense with the reading of the minutes. 
Motion carried.
 
TREASURES REPORT
Jane reported a balance in the checking account of $8,032.33, and $23,923.74 in the 
Building Fund.  There being no additions or corrections, the report were approved. 

OLD BUSINESS
Tournaments.  Phyllis gave the final report from the Fall Sectional.  We made a profit of 
$534.12.
Summer Sectional.  Phyllis reported that the Summer Sectional will be held June 3rd, 4th, 
and 5th at Las Brisas on the Bay; the Senior Center is not available at that time. We can 
bring food on Saturday.
Property Damage.  The awning has been ordered and half the cost of the canopy has been 
paid for.  The drain pipes have been ordered as well.  A bid of $363.00 was presented to 
cover the cost to repair the fence. A motion was made by Betty, seconded by Sue, to 
accept the bid on the fence.  Motion carried.
Unit Championship games.  Saturday, February 5th.  We will honor the ones who have 
advanced a level.  ACBL notification is the first Saturday of each month.
Table Purchases.  Barbara will check on purchasing 20 new tables.
Improvement Upgrade Committee.  Phyllis appointed Martha and Sue co-chairs of this 
committee.

NEW BUSINESS
Sunday game.  Phyllis recommended that we consider having a Sunday afternoon game, 
beginning March 6th. Game time would be 2:00 p.m.  The motion to sanction a Sunday 
afternoon game was made by Martha, seconded by Sue. Motion approved by the board.
Lessons.  Mickey Groggel wants to teach bridge lessons for beginners once a week; she 
requested a budget of $300.00.  A motion was made by Sue, seconded by Barbara to 
approve the request.  Motion carried.
District 10 Goodwill Appointments. Christy has been appointed our Goodwill 
Ambassador.  

Meeting was adjourned (Phyllis, Sue) at 2:40 p.m.
