Annual Membership and Election Meeting, Unit 215, South Alabama Bridge Assoc

December 10, 2005

CALL TO ORDER
Phyllis Haydel called the meeting to order at 12:36 p.m.

MINUTES
A motion was made by Jean White, seconded by Julie Miles, that we dispense with the 
reading of the minutes as they are posted on the website.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Jane Mahoney reported that the balance, as of December 10, 2005, in the Checking 
Account is $14,342.76; the balance in the Building Fund is $21,917.06.

MEMBERSHIP
Howard Deck reported that we have 237 members and he also told the membership about 
the letter that is being sent to each new member when they join.

OLD BUSINESS
Tournament Report:  Barbara Slaughter gave a report on the Mobile Split Regional held 
in October.  We show an estimated profit of $1,488.53. 
Sunday Swiss Team Game:  Phyllis reported that the Board had recommended starting a 
single session Sunday Swiss Team Game on the second Sunday of each month, beginning 
in January, 2006.  The game would start at 1 p.m., players must come in pairs, and 
Phyllis will direct.  A motion was made by Cherokee White, seconded by Howard Deck, 
to make the game a Pro-Am game, stratified if possible. The time was changed to 1:30 
p.m.  Motion carried (22-6).  Phyllis will post a sign-up sheet.

NEW BUSINESS
2006 Sectionals:  Barbara reported that the Board recommended that we have one 
Sectional in 2006 in October as we usually do.  Recommendation accepted.
Future Regionals:  Due to lack of support, i.e., lack of attendance by members in Mobile 
and Baldwin County, the Board asks the membership if we want to continue holding 
Regionals. After some discussion, a motion was made by Fran Krizman, seconded by 
Mickey Groggel, to continue Regionals.  Motion carried:  24-10.
Lessons:  Phyllis announced that Larry Miles will be giving free, advanced bridge lessons 
beginning the first Friday in January, 9 a.m., at the Bridge Center.  The topic/s will be 
posted in advance.  
Election of Officers:  the following slate of officers presented by the Nomination 
Committee, Jane Mahoney, Chairman, were elected to serve next year:
	President:  		Phyllis Haydel
	Vice President: 	Barbara Slaughter
	Treasurer:		Jane Mahoney
	Secretary:		Margaret Miller
       Members at Large:	Howard Deck, William McGlasson, Martha Steele, 
and Jean White
Past President:	Ed Stephens

There being no additional nominations, the slate of officers was accepted.

Phyllis asked if there was any other new business, there being none, the meeting 
was adjourned.
